Answer by Danavir Goswami
Both are important as Sanatana Goswami explained in the Caitanya Caritamrta when speaking with Haridas Thakur. For one who is not very advanced, assisting the preaching mission may be acceptable. However for an initiated disciple, the disciple’s first business is to obey his spiritual master, which means chanting sixteen rounds, and following the regulative principles. Next are items of sadhana bhakti such as rising early, attending temple programs and hearing regularly from scriptures and associating with devotees. At this stage where one is situated in good spiritual health, he should try to preach and help spread the mission as far as possible. Acara pracara. Practice then preach.
