      Question

Is poor health karma reactions or mercy of Krsna? For example Bhaktivinod Thakur suffered from high blood pressure, constant fevers, liver pains, malaria etc. If some devotee is suffering from serious diseases is it to be considered reactions for his offences or just mercy of Krsna so that the devotee can remember and pray to him?

      Answer by Danavir Goswami

For ordinary persons, diseases are karmic reactions, i.e. indirectly Krishna’s mercy. For devotees, diseases may be their karma but approved personally by Krishna, therefore it is Krishna’s mercy. Or since Krishna is independently powerful, He may impose diseases upon a devotee to fulfill His particular purpose. That is the special mercy of Krishna
